GoSolar Whangarei has been created within SeaCalm Industries to cater for the Solar Energy requirements of Northland. With backgrounds in engineering, management and sales, the founders, Mid Beckett and Robyn Jones have spent two years researching the global solar industry. Robyn is now living on her yacht in the Town Basin, caring for people in other ways.

Our goal was to secure for the Northland community a carefully selected range of the best solar collection systems available in the world today.

SEACALM INDUSTRIES Machine Shop

SeaCalm Industries fabricates a wide variety of products for the domestic and export markets. These range from stainlesss steel gimballed cup holders, dive gauge cages, heavy duty shelf brackets, and products for the high pressure industry including 30,000psi test rigs.

Mid and Robyn's involvment with sustainable development goes back to the time when national and local developers and business interests regarded all conservation concerns as vaguely loopy and nothing to do with the 'real world'.

.Robyn was a Te Anau resident during the last grueling years of the Save Manapouri Campaign, New Zealand's first major green issue. She was a part of the locally based group which instigated the final activist strategies which succeeded in stopping the uncontrolled flooding of both Lakes Te Anau and Manapouri for hydroelectric development. These lake levels are now carefully monitored in order to preserve the area's conservation and recreational values while still providing New Zealand's largest single source of hydroelectric power. A wonderful example of sustainable development.

Mid's interest in sustainable development goes back to his twenty years as a Dive and Fishing shop owner in the Kapiti district .. For seventeen years he worked toward the now realised vision of a Marine Reserve surrounding Kapiti Island, which is in itself a DOC operated Reserve, in Northern Cook Strait.
